It is very easy not to buy anything when you live in a town of 90. We have a bar, a Co-op, and an art gallery and craft shop. We have several artist studios, a theatre and a post office.
We hardly ever go to the bar. If we do, it's because we are buying water or ice. The Co-op is for gas and REACT garbage tags. The post office...well, ya'll know what that's for. So, there's no temptation there. As far as the theatre goes, no problem, I work there.
Now, the gallery and other artists' studios, that's a whole other kettle of fish.
Angus and I are avid collectors of art. We love having it around, and we love supporting creative endeavors. Our walls and shelves are covered with treasures that we have accumulated over the years. When we were discussing the possibility of embarking on this adventure, we talked about whether art purchases fell in the realm of the necessary. Unfortunately, no. The last piece of art I bought is a little drawing by Bonnie Conly. That was a while ago.
I'm feeling the itch! Arrrrgh! I saw several piece today that I would purchase in a blink of an eye. Having so many talented friends on Facebook and Instagram is dangerous. So far, I think this is going to be the most difficult part of this year.
